When two years back the producer of Race franchise, Ramesh Taurani, had approached Salman Khan for Race 3, the superstar had refused it. But Ramesh Taurani didn’t lose the hope and kept trying post which Salman finally agreed for it. Salman himself revealed at the trailer launch of Race 3 that when he first heard the script, it just bounced off his head and he didn’t think that he fits into Race movie space.
He told, “Do saal pehle maine Race 3 ki script suni thi. Script mere bouncer chali gayi. Ramesh ji (Taurani) kept me insisting that ek baar phir se sun lo script. So, I heard it again. I thought it’s a different genre for me to do. I just need few changes because the kind of films I’m doing, I don’t fit into the Race space. Though I haven’t seen the earlier films but I’ve seen his (Anil Kapoor) work and I’ve seen some songs of the film. So, I knew genre of the film. I don’t know where I will fit in the genre. Then Ramesh ji and Sheraj (Ahmed, writer) bhai sat on the script and reworked and then they came and narrated it to me and then I realised that this is actually a fun film to do for me. We all had a blast. We had a great time shooting it.”
Salman further added, “Jo pehle hota than na ek musical action bonanza, jo ki bahut time se nahin aaya. Actually I’ve never done a film like this. You know the films like Bachchan (Amitabh Bachchan) sir, Dharamji (Dharmendra) used to do… come watch and have a great time and go back home.”
Directed by Remo D’Souza, the film stars Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Saqib Saleem and Daisy Shah. Race 3 is slated for its release on June 15 in 3D. On making Race into a 3D film, Salman said, “It’s a great decision.”
